Optical Microscopy

Optical Microscopy is an efficient and inexpensive means for characterizing the morphological features of material over a wide range of magnifications (0.5X-1500X). The optical investigation provides valuable microstructure information and in addition, can be used for selecting specific features regarding more detailed analysis. In many investigations, the optical evaluation is sufficient to resolve the specific problem under investigation, thus eliminating more costly methods of analysis.

Bright Field, Dark Field, Polarized and Phase Contrast methods are used to depict specific features or optical properties of the material.

Video Taping can be used for documenting dynamic experiments and to improve the cost effectiveness of documenting extensive microstructure investigation.
